... the police to come and shut down the party. Apparently, none of the bars in Varkala actually have a drinks license. The police are normally willing to take a bribe but not on this particular night, we suspect this was due to the large number of locals partying in the bar. It was nice to see locals letting their hair down as most of our experience with them up to this point was very conservative.
A couple of other annoyances ...

Boating in the Backwaters

... normally were, but instead it was lined with men selling fish and crabs just as they were last night. There were many people out working the chinese fishing nets as well. They invited us down and I really wanted to go but Jacci didn't want to so we didn't. As we walked and explored we made a little circle around the town. We found a dutch cemetery, a Bob Marley cafe, a really cute puppy, and some beautiful houses.

... coming down. I actually really didn't mind this, it had been a tiring couple of weeks on the bike and so to kick back with some familiar foods and different flavours to those i'd become accustomed to having at every meal time was ideal.It also helped that the views were great, the people friendly and there were few moments that there were no dolphins splashing around out to sea.

I nice bit of down time and dolphin spotting in a beautiful setting.

... and took a few photos while trying to guess how venomous it was. We later found out it was a non-venomous, non-aggressive keelback but Sam was stoked to see her first wild one. At the restaurant we had lots of fun sharing travel stories with the kiwis and wish them luck for their move back home and wedding in Feb. After 4 days of relaxation we were becoming part if the furniture so it was time to leave for Trivandrum for a flight to our final destination before home, ...
