... are in places and the construction of it all.

Crazy that some people live with their front door or windows opening out onto the city walls. Awesome views, but must be pretty annoyed at the tourist trade that has popped up in their town.
Went back to the hostel and spent the night drinking and chatting with Nonie, Mark, Greg, Byron, Yu and Karmen and decided to leave tomorrow on the 11pm ferry ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia richlum17.04.09 We disembarked the ship at the port of Kotor to a brass band and pom poms, nice welcome. Then off on tour to Perast and Kotor which is in Montenegro and was part of Yugoslavia. They have a large percentage of Serbs who live approx. 100km from Kotor. The bay of Kotor is a 90 min sail to the town, and has a beautiful natural habour on the Adriatic Coast, famous for its ...
Kotor, Montenegro hazdeb... You have no idea what a relief that was! I took in my new surroundings pleased that I made it into the country successfully. As a young child my father took me with him traveling the world when he was an active nuclear engineering consultant for Chas T Main, USAID and the IMF. I had been in Indonesia during the turmoil in East Timor so I was used to being in war zones surrounded by soldiers with guns. I was presently older, but still I found such travel extremely exciting more ...
Serbia and Montenegro, Serbia lpcyu... Montenegro passport stamp does not even mention its name just the police post. Getting use to the constantly late railways we did not bother to set an alarm for the morning and half an hour after we we due at our destination of Bar we arrived in the capital city of Podgorica still two hours to go. A quick view of the city from the train confirmed we made the right decision not to spend any time here and soon headed back to bed. We woke up in perfect time to ...
Kotor, Serbia and Montenegro dockerills... amp; through Montenegro is a lot longer for us, safety definitely comes first! All this to get to Croatia - best be bloody worth it eh! After deciding to drive on to the bottom of Macedonia, we had planned to stop somewhere near the border of Albania ready for tomorrow's drive! We found a lovely place in Struga, real buzzing busy place with loads of young people floating around - couldn't believe we were still in the same country! So we found a ...
Herceg-Novi, Serbia and Montenegro no1pablo... Went for dinner to a restaurant called Pasteria Restaurant in the old town, and we were totally ripped off!!! When we received our bill there were numerous charges for GARNISHES, even though it stated in the description of the dishes that they were included. A number of other small charges were added which they supposedly couldnt remember what they were for. AVOID it at all costs!!!
Kotor, Montenegro trishigirl... had to wrestle with ourselves to leave or we would never have gone anywhere else - they were happy for us to hang out with them even longer. We had to flip a coin after a few days (and as Therese pointed out, if you're really down to flipping a coin, it's really a given you should stay!). Well, she was right, really! So nice to have such flexibility with our plans to be able to do stuff like this, and it was so generous of them. We spent the other ...
Herceg-Novi, Serbia and Montenegro roamingmonk... city in central Montenegro where we were going to stay the night before heading to Durmitor National Park the next day. The bus driver had to maneuver through a herd or two of cows. It was funny, as we passed one small herd, the cows all knew to give way and one cow moved his entire head in just the perfect fashion so to say "go ahead, drive on through." I chuckled out loud when I saw that. Upon coming into Niksic, we knew we had to ...
Niksic, Serbia and Montenegro alexk1018... staring at the bouncing boats, we finished up, not just dinner, but a week-long Croatian Vacation. Since that is all most people have for a holiday, we realized how lucky we were to have so many sites and sounds yet to experience. She Said: As we boarded the Marko Polo ferry, for the second time, we knew exactly where to go for electricity and comfortable benches. But, there was a man seated in our spot claiming both tables for him and his wife. After feelings of guilt ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia the_stamms... there's one down here so whaddaya know... I turned up a bit late, gambling on a glorious sunset but getting a shady dog due the fjord's northerly alignment. However I took the bus to Dubrovnik along both shorelines a couple of days later which really allowed me to see how much of a powerful and beautiful work of nature it really is. Rest assured ...
