Set in the middle of rice fields, these little bungalows offer more privacy and peacefulness than you can imagine. The sunsets were spectacular, and the setting like a dream.

          Day 13 - Pai

A travel blog entry by nthnbrwn

Last night was the last night at Darling Viewpoint. So this morning it's a case of packing up my backpack and getting on my way out of Pai. I've no doubt exhausted my time here, but it's been great just to do that. No more balcony with the epic landscape views, no more cosy dorms, who knows the next place might just live up to this standard. Walking into the town, all geared up dragged my sorry self in 30+ degree weather, we go to one ...

... for the morning waiting to get a room. Spending the day planing our trip into Laos and hanging out in the hostel. In the evening we ventured out to an outdoor food court, trying a northern curry soup, grilled squid, and a strange buble tea type drink. The bubble tea a try once, never try again kind of purchase. The next morning we departed on a bus further north traveling through Pai, and Soppong. Eventually arriving at a place called Cave Lodge. A beautiful, ...

We picked up our bikes around 8.30 and set off on the 5 and a half hour bike ride from Chiang Mai to Pai. It cost us about £10.50 to rent both the bikes for 3 days with insurance and petrol was about £3 altogether! They also take your big backpack to their shop in Pai and you can just pick it up when you arrive. The ride is a total 135km on one route which goes up the mountain and has around 700 bends, which is why it takes a while to get there. ...

          Life of Pai

We made our way even further north onwards to Pai, set in and amongst more lush green highlands. It was a very windy journey as we weaved our way up and through the mountains and eventually we arrived in the small, hippie town of Pai in the early evening. Our first impressions were awesome as we arrived right in the heart of Pai with its night market in full swing and lanterns which lit up the road and we both couldn't wait to start exploring.

          Our first day was ...
