... around the villages on the Backwaters on a canoe. No engines or sounds at all apart from the wildlife around us. Truly, the backwaters are really special. The people are so friendly, they all had different colour houses which brightened everything up and made each unique (pink, blue, orange, purple etc). We had to crouch down into the canoe for the (extremely) low bridges which was funny and we also saw a Snake Boat being prepared for the Big Race the following day! More to follow ...

A guilty question kept going through my mind. By getting my Christian born, Buddha confirmed, companion a Hindu blessing, had I just booked a one way ticket to hell? Or was I hedging my bets? I decided to give him a Bar Mitzvah when we covered 12km to be sure.

The train came in on time and there was coach 1A right where we were standing, woo hoo! We had it cracked. So onto the train and looking for seats 31 and 33, oops! Someone is sitting in them a lady with 2 young children, so we sat in the next bay down, hope nobody gets on at the next stop wanting the seats we were now sitting in.
