    Wandering Bratislava

I arrived in Vienna and immediately headed over to Bratislava. There are regular buses straight from the airport to the main bus station in Bratislava, which are both very convenient and cheap (at least for an hourish international ride.)
The view from the bus is quite pretty. We passed a lot of farmland, some of which had some interesting windmills on it. We passed some pretty mountains. And, we passed through some very classically Bavarian ...

I end up at the Cathedral, which is the far side of the old town, and ...

... on the hill, overlooking the city. Below, a distinctive asymmetric cable-stayed bridge spans the Danube. And at one end of the bridge, sitting 95 metres off the ground atop a pylon, is a 'UFO' pod which contains a bar-restaurant with panoramic views over the city. Beyond the landmarks, the city's architecture is charming, with many Rococo buildings and impressive apartments.

Today we were coached to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. The trip was 2 hrs from Vienna and we were required to carry passports.

Russia was responsible for splitting Slovakia from Che . In the 1990s Slovakia became part of the European Economic Community.

Our tour comprised coach drive around to distant points of interest, a walking ...
