    ... the bus station. It's in a former factory and was a small art space. The first band was 2 guys (Russian/Slovakian) who sampled their own loops for an interesting reggae-ish sound. That was followed by 4 guys from Brooklyn who rocked.

    Thursday's bands were a reunion of sorts for a well-known Bratislavan band that merged hip hop, pop, punk, and ska. There were 500 - 700 folks there that knew all the lyrics and danced to every song. We had ...

    ... with drinking establishments. There were loads of Germans around, and when they defeated Argentina to take the trophy, the German fans went crazy and streamed out into the street singing and dancing. Later that night and the next day CNN was showing constant coverage of the hundreds of thousands of German fans in Berlin cheering in the same streets I had recently walked down. It looked pretty exciting, and yet I felt happier being in my more peaceful surroundings.
