This was going to be an exciting day, and we were excited to be going to Hyde Park up the Hudson River by train to see the home of ex-president Franklin D Roosevelt! 17.7 forecast.

We were up at 5.45 to catch a train to Poughkeepsie [ pronounced Po keepsie ] . First we walked to the local station, about 15mins., to catch a 7 train to Grand Central Station. To catch a 7 involves ...

The toy store even had a Zoltar, who granted Tom's wish and made him BIG (not that we were too excited about Zoltar - just the Big Piano!). ... the 100th year of inauguration of George Washington as President. Weirdly though, it is a copy of the Arc De Triomphe in Paris and has a sculpture of Georgey-boy on both sides of it, one at peace, one at war. Why the Americans would build a monument to commemorate an American event with a copy of a French icon is beyond my understanding, but there it is- larger than life!
