I also noticed,
that most of the residential housing apartments, etc. have balconies. However I
never saw any patio furniture on it. Instead they always have laundry to dry
and bedding to air out, which are hanging from some kind of contraption.
Too bad the days in Japan had to come to an end. We
really enjoyed Tokyo very much.
... the coolest food trucks there! Tiny! We wandered around these random streets checking out people's gardens. It was neat to be in such an old neighborhood yet right in the middle of the city. We had coffee and a yummy dessert and a great visit. Caught up with Ferg and got to know Aki a little. It was great. We walked back to Shibuyu where we parted ways. One of the must do suggestions from friends has been to visit Akihabara, a district in central Tokyo that is famous for its many electronics shops. ... couldn't be further from what Narty and I were after. The second one that we found had 14 levels of mostly mumsy clothing and shoes. We had a slight panic attack as we got separated from the boys - they were supposed to go to a bar in the basement and wait for is there. When we got there though, it was nothing but groceries! We searched around for quite a while but couldn't see them. We went up escalators, and down elevators and then finally found them! Phew. New plan is that ...
... was pretty amazing. I stayed up there and watched the sun set and the city lights come on and get brighter and brighter, it was magic. And to add to my delight, I saw Mt Fuji!! So that has completed the trip wish list, rather nicely :-) 7pm flight to Auckland, then directly on to Wellington. Can't wait! It has been an amazing trip, and so wonderful to have caught up with friends and family, and see so many amazing new places, but me thinks I am just about ready for home now! ...
