It was a late start today - we didn't really get going until 11:00. We had brunch at a little place in Hells Kitchen and then caught the subway down to Central Park, where we spent most of he rest of the day. At first we just wandered aimlessly, but after picking up a map at the Dairy, we headed up to the literary walk and along the Mall. A city girl's heaven

I still find it hard to believe most of it was designed more than a century ago, especially the express tracks, which, in addition to allowing certain trains to stop at fewer stations through Manhattan, allow the MTA to reroute trains when there are problems on other lines, and close local, non-express routes for maintenance for extended periods of time. I loved the energy of this amazing city, and I can't wait to explore more of it in the coming days.

... Laura at the YMCA west side. It's a shame that Laura's flying out to San Fran at 5 tomorrow morning but I know we will catch up before too long!!!!! This afternoon we went to Central Park and did our own kind of reflections with Laura which was Great and set the mood for the next adventure. So 1st stop New York City...
