... the magical Bernina Pass.

Just like the Preda Pass this pass is shared by road and railway but unlike the Preda Pass this pass is much more open with rivers and lakes all along the way.

Unlike most passes in the Alps this pass has a rather strange feel to it. It makes its way up into the mountains just like most but at one point one comes out into one massive open space which almost looks like a rocky beach. There are large stones everywhere. It is ...

... great family thing to do. Shane put on Christoph's gear and climbed the large boulder... felt pretty good about that!
The next day we all set off for Austria. The trail we chose took us past three caves which had to be explored by kids and adults alike. One part of the path was so steep I was wishing we'd brought along the ropes and clips. What a stunning way to end the week. We had a picnic in Austria at the pass before taking the long way back to ...

We left Lindau good time in the morning and drove the countryside in Austria. The scenery was stunning—green meadows, cows with bells, rugged mountains and great architecture. The architecture in this area is really progressive and is being applied to all sorts of buildings and homes. We followed the cheese route and stopped around 1:00 at Kasekeller Lingenau to sample some ...

Wonderful Wildspitze

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Aug 28, 2014

Thursday 28 August

Moved on this morning, up the Pitztal valley, just south
of Imst. Went up to the Pitztal glacier, taking the Glacier Express(tunnel
train) followed Tyrol’s highest cable car to the restaurant at 3,440m, near the
top of the Wildspitze (3,774m). Perfect weather for a day in the snow – blue
skies and no wind.

Staying near Jerzens tonight. Had a great evening meal at
the campsite restaurant ...
