It's a lovely apartment, clean, and the staff have been very helpful. We are right on the beach, and are overlooking an alley and can see the ocean. We couldn't check in till 3:00, but dropped our bags and used their restroom (a shower and toilet). As it was, we were able to check in at 1:00 and boy are we grateful.

PROS: Location, price, quiet building, beautiful studio suite with great finishes, fantastic showers and Ikea appointments.
CONS: No on-site staff or amenities, complicated after-hours check in rituals.

Before checking in we decided to wear some of our clothes and put some heavy items in our pockets so our bag weighed under 7kgs when it was weighed. Rebekah also had a secondary shopping type bag which they didnt weigh and didnt seem too concerned about.

The art work that the homeless did was so different to anything I have seen before, I was mesmerised by there skill and attention to detail. We have eaten a lot of tacos here as there the cheapest thing to eat and of course they taste really good, Wahoos was our main destination. Lol

          Venice Beach and Santa monica.

We hired bicycles and cycled from Santa Monica to Venice, oggling at all the street vendors and beach side hawkers. Bruce even recognised one busker that was here 20 years ago, still doing the same tricks.

After about 2 hours on the bikes, we gave them back, and walked up to the main street mall at Santa Monica. There were lots of shops there, so we found some lunch and then looked through a few shops before ...

This morning we need to do the last bit of packing and leave a tip for the housekeepers. They have looked after us well on this stay. Then we started to do the Tetris thing with our luggage into the car. We came with four people suitcases and hand luggage. When we picked up the car we had a bit of knee loading. On the way back we have three more duffel bags as well. Very tight but using everyone’s ideas we got a good solution.

The story that goes with this ride is that when Steven Spielberg trialed the ride (he helped to create it), he made them stop at the top of the drop and he walked the whole way down! He obviously just didn't want to get wet, ...
