... tourists want to see and buy large pieces of jewellery !! We got away with a couple of decorative Thai rice bowls which do look great.

Back on board at 2pm for a rest and a shower.

In all, not a bad day out for a ship organised tour. The guide (Kate – of Thai and Chinese origins) was witty and kept up a good commentary of the usual statistics and tour information but also a lot of local and stories and on every day goings on around us as ...

... Haunted Theater, Scream in the Dark etc. and visit the Louis Tussaud's Wax Museum with a good collection of celebrities (63 i think). Tom Cruise from MI, Jack Nicholson as the Joker, Danny Devito as Penguin, Bruce Lee as Bruce Lee, Jim Carrey as the Riddler, Michelle Pfeiffer as the Catwoman, Beckhams and Obama were some of the highlights and well-designed statues.

We turn in to prepare for our next day's drive to the capital city, Bangkok.

... been a sleepy fishing village. Once the Vietnam War ended, tourists replaced the marines and the place has grown and grown to now be a large city of vice, with over 500 bars and up to 20,000 sex workers...

It was like being in a Scooby Doo movie as we walked the streets, with go-go bars, massage parlours, convenience stores and restaurants serving predominantly non-Thai food repeated seemingly infinitely. As a result, there is not a lot to pass ...
