... picture they took of us. If you happen to be in Bangkok, make reservations at Vertigo...well worth the experience and the highlight of our Bangkok trip for me...Steve would probably say the Grand Palace. Go to both!!!
We left there to go to a Muay Thai (Thai boxing) event, which would be extra fun because Steve and I are taking it up in Singapore for exercise. Once we got to Lumpini Stadium, the ticket prices were ridic (by Thai ...
... were too. As you can imagine, the landscapes are lush and green. This time our tour guide was kind of a disappointment. His English was hard to understand and he gave conflicting information. Downtown Bangkok is a very modern city with huge skyscrapers. Our drop-off point was a huge shopping and convention center. When we arrived, we were given the opportunity (for a few dollars more) to take a tour ...
Bangkok, Thailand cubnelaine... Sh*t. Plus, I accidentally woke even earlier cos I had forgotten to set my alarm clock forward an hour (Malaysia to Thailand). Gooey sh*t.
So after two hours sleep I decided to use the map and wander away from Khao San road in the direction of a nearby viewpoint. First I had a quick cuppa at the usual cafe, and the Thai Tuk-Tuk fattie had a whinge at me "You no good tourist, not take Tuk-Tuk" and threw some disrespecting arm gestures about. What he was essentially saying ...
... that he was sulking - it was like someone had fish hooked his bottom lip - and he reluctantly set off again but driving in a considerably more aggressive way than he had previously, which made for a hairy journey.
We eventually did arrive at the Golden Mount which, like Ronseal, is exactly as described - a Gold coloured mound with a winding path up to the top featuring hanging gardens and decent if hardly spectacular views of the city. It was worth a brief ...
... spend considerable time in this temple!!!! Unfortunately we are not allowed to take photos inside the temple so my photo of the Emerald Buddha shows it as being quite minuscule which it isn't and the interior of this temple is really very luxurious.
The Grand Palace complex is huge covering 218,000 sq. metres. Most buildings are closed to the public but the multiple buildings exterior architecture can be admired from all corners. (The entrance fee is 350B)

We arrived in Bangkok station in the morning and decided to get the night train to Chiang Mai instead of wasting a day on the train. We left our bags in the storage area and set off to have a look around Bangkok. We got around by underground train and the sky train. The trains here are open plan through all the carriages, which is quite nice, and are noticabley more clean than London ones. We went to MBK to watch a film to kill time, (iming to ...
Bangkok, TH.40, Thailand kieran_stuart... going to book anything today. The agency was completely empty apart from two staff and one man smoking outside on a bench. We sat down in front of the preposterously well fed man, I looked him in the eyes and told him of our supposed situation. I added that this being so, we were looking for quotes and examples of packages that he could recommend to us, so we could show our friend on arrival. He had neither the intelligence nor the courtesy to be polite: 'We don't do that' he ...
Bangkok, Thailand stephanie813... bread to throw to the fish in the river. It was amazing to watch how the thousands and thousands of fish (big ones too!) get into a feeding frenzy - they go nuts! Will upload the photos later.
The trip down the river on the boat was enjoyable. We got off at a spot where we could walk up to the Big Buddha and the Grand Palace, then Khao San Road. The amount of annoying "taxi" drivers wanting to take you all over the place to buy a new suit, or buy some ...
