Survive Mumbai, survive the world.........?

... just randomly ending, so it was fun to get lost. to the north of the city is a large stone hill and on top is an enourmous fort. Rudyard Kipling wrote about it and said it was 'made by angels and giants'. it was absolutley stunning and i had a prime view from my bedroom window. it looked like a painting at night when it was lit up by the moon. during the day it looks like it has organically grown straight out of the rock.

also in jodhpur nearly all the buildings are blue so ...

Jaisalmer!

We left Bikaner early in the morning, headed for the Temple of the Rat, a sacred hindu temple complex, where people go to worhip the thousands of rodents that reside within its walls. I believe that it was the first temple we had been in so far that had a truly spiritual vibe. The temple was packed full of indians praying and leaving food on walls and the floors of the temple for the rats, which we everywhere. We ...

... Yaarit's bag and pulled out her bottle of hand sanitizer. Yaarit was able to get it back (mostly because I think it was of no value/use) but we were left with a very bad impression of the children of Jaisalmer. Even in Bombay-Mumbai the children weren't like that. We walked around trying to find the entrance to the fort and saw a sign for a travel agency recommended by the Lonely Planet. It was called Sahara Travels and they did camel safaris. Yaarit and I walked in and ...

Jaisalmer - Join the caravan of love

Rising up from the surrounding sand, Jaisalmer is a beacon, a true desert oasis. It's golden sandstone fort stood out clearly as we approached the city by bus from Jodhpur. The crumbling fort walls and bastions are a relic of a past long since forgotten, a time of conquest and survival here in western Rajasthan. Walking through it's web of tiny streets is like discovering a time capsule that was never buried, like treading back through history itself. I don't ...

... Muslim Indian with dark skin, bad teeth, and a good sense of humour. Simon was a handsome young man who had grown up in the desert and was apprenticing to become a camel driver himself. Then the two little ones, Aladdin and Saddam were both 10 and working full time as helpers for Baba. We met our camels and hopped aboard. Arik was given the camel that Baba said "sometimes jumps". Well sometimes jumps seems to mean constantly bucks...Arik did ...

... a man in a turban with a huge moustasche and a very serious expression standing on a cart whipping a horse which was galloping along the motorway!! He stared back at us as if to say - how strange are you, with no whip, horse or moustasche! (2) We have seen motorbikes with two adults and a baby perched on the handlebars on busy roads ! Motorcycle helmets? Forget it! We have not seen one person wearing one. One guy was going well over 100km per hour ...
