Ostend, Belguim was a quick 2 night stopover on our way to Amsterdam.

It had a huge beach and a large esplanade with some cool orange art features.

It was empty of people and would be one of those places that come alive in summer.

We did a day trip to the nearby gorgeous city of Bruges.

This is a cool city centred around a couple of big plazas, lots of canals and pretty photo

... we did as it really poured for the hour we were inside! Shopping was done today and we had fun in the side streets and the beautiful shops; we find everyone extremely friendly and helpful! We ran to find cover in the next rain cloud and downpour on the way home, and ended up in a hidden courtyard behind the Church of our Lady; old grapevines, a little bridge and a little path; so mystical! We are going to dinner in a while and guess what? The sun is out! ...

    Hello My Dear Friends,

Today, I took the tour (Quasimodo Tours) out to Flanders Fields and the WW1 battlefields. It was
a really great day – I learned a lot, it was well-paced, and there was no stop at a gift shop. And, as an added bonus, everyone on the tour was from a Commonwealth country. Flanders Fields is about
40km from Bruges, spanning roughly the 8km ...

... were visiting the chocolate shop where praline was invented, and taking a bar tour of some of the craft beer bars in Belgium. The tour was great. We started with a bar where we heard the history of Trappist beers. For those who don’t know, Trappist beers are made by one of 8 certified trappist monk breweries in the world, 6 of which are in Belgium. Monks started brewing beer to drink themselves (as a low alcohol "table" beer) then realised ...

... real, probably another sinus infection (or recurrence of the same one). Back at the hostel I ask the guy about healthcare prices in Belgium, and decide a doctor's visit is too expensive for what might clear up on its own. He gives me the location of a pharmacy open on Sunday, and I confirm what I suspected - no antibiotics without a prescription. The only medicine available to me does more or less the same thing as what I've ...
