... from the Germans; we visited the extremely emotional In Flanders Fields Museum; we walked around photographing the award winning Canadian monument of the soldier with bowed head; we clambered up Hill 60 and saw the Caterpillar Crater, the largest crater, a perfect circle within a wooded area. All is peaceful now, but just looking out over the flat, flat land, imagining the young men who fought and killed and ...

... way to work and school, the picturesque canals as accustomed to them as the roundabouts of Milton Keynes are to me. Their vision of England was hilarious – it would seem the only portrait of my homeland that’d made its way to Belgium was through the medium of On The Buses, Dad’s Army, and Absolutely Fabulous. Whilst the idea of Captain Mannering sharing the 5A with Joanna Lumley seemed peculiarly appealing, I did my best to bring them up to ...

... the rest of the day, or bike a little farther and enjoy the fresh outdoors. Looking at the map, Dmitriy determined that we could bike to Sluis a border town in Netherlands. Of course we decided to bike more, I haven't had such a long span without biking since I bought my road bike. These city bikes weren't nearly as comfortable, but made much more sense as we had to ride on cobblestone roads or in the grass at different times. Another maybe five miles we ...
