... we were hungry...we were supposed to meet Caig And Gwen at 9am. The concierge Arranged for a cab for all of us to the DubI Mall, again when we stepped outside it was oven like!!!! Short trip to the new part of Dubai to the Dubai Mall. The building spread in all directions and over 3 levels. Wandered through the electronics section, then around and around. Stopped for a quick break...Craig's brekky at Tim Hortons a Canadian cafe chain. Kept on walking and looking up ...

... is like because this replica is vast, opulent but not over the top.

The ceilings are tall – some are vaulted and have gold leaf or gold paint to highlight them and the wall sconces are huge – I wouldn’t be surprised if they were Venetian Glass.

We passed by several jewellery shops with large necklaces filled with precious stones. I have no idea how much the cost was – as the saying goes, ...

... was inside except grass, a kids play area, and maybe a flea market. We walked around the outside of that and caught the train back to the hotel.

Managed to check into or room around 11am. They offered us an upgrade to a larger room, which sounded great until we realised there was only 1 bed. Listening to Allan snoring in the background currently makes me think even 2 beds in the same room wasn't the best idea! Not his fault that I am ...

... expect. We take in the night lights of Dubai for while before descending in the elevator as quickly as we went up. We got the metro back to the hotel, it was nearing eleven pm and the carriages were crammed full as if it were rush hour on the London Underground. Men were even seated in the women and children only carriages, which is a big no no out here and comes with a fine if caught. ... along side us with no stations accessible from where we were walking and in a sole destroying moment, the path fizzled out about 5kms from the hotel. Yes, I literally had a tear ready to go. We managed to catch a cab to the Atlantis and take a photo or two. Adding salt to the wound, we missed the sun setting, found the monorail only to discover we couldn't use our travel card for that and had to pay $15 to get back to the edge of the Marina!
