... very large swimming pool – almost as big as a football pitch – which is a sort of Indian Lourdes. Visitors go there to bathe and be cured of whatever. There is a continuous spring filling the tank and the bathing is done there. This is about 2 m square!! The rest of the water is inhabited by fish and ducks. Second day we planned for a full day sightseeing. Had Dosa & Poori from the guesthouse and started the drive by 9.30 AM from Coonoor. On the other side, there was a cricket match going on, being played on dusty ground. There were a few locals in the park, watching the match over the fence, so we stood with them for a while a watched a few bowls. Hayley is quickly becoming au fait with the rules of cricket, having been in the country for four weeks, its hard to avoid the game! ...

... our feet when we were on the bikes) and each time a car went past it soaked us all. Leaving the bike shop, having shown them our speedometers, helmets and gears, we realised that there was no way we were going to be able to do another 40 miles so had to settle for heading to Pollachi and accept that it would be 2 more days until we reach the coast and hopefully the sunshine. We arrived after 17 miles, truly filthy and  found an OK room to collapse in. Despite the difficulties of ...
