... very large swimming pool – almost as big as a football pitch – which is a sort of Indian Lourdes. Visitors go there to bathe and be cured of whatever. There is a continuous spring filling the tank and the bathing is done there. This is about 2 m square!! The rest of the water is inhabited by fish and ducks. It is to say the least, a brighter shade of green.

Next temple a Jain temple. Again not allowed in but could look in through open ...

... but we weren't shy and had a jolly good sing-along to get into the Christmas Spirit! We were also befriended by the local journalist (see next entry!). Dinner was the usual buffet, with the addition of Turkey and cranberry stew, so we felt very at home. No expense was spared - and when we commented on the bread shaped as a crocodile, they brought out the chef who'd made it!We hung our socks in front of the fire (ostensibly to dry them...) but it made us feel Christmassy!!!

... standing in the aisle and a lap for George to sit upon. It was a fun ride actually, hanging on at the stairwell.
Eventually I squeezed in close to Rosina, and the women and children there got excited by my camera and subsequent photos of them.
In town the children and I ate in a cheap restaurant, dosa and tomato rice on banana leaves, and the workers there were so fascinated by us that they stood around watching us eat.

Took the Toy train from Coonoor to Ooty. The train is acutallly used as public transport. But they call it a toy because it's so small - cute. So beautiful travelling around the mountains. It felt like we were on a fair ground ride, very picturesque.
