      ... especially foreigners base the quality of a restaurant on their version of Phad Thai. As a result, many don't attempt as it is so difficult to compete with the street stalls which apparently often have the best. I guess I have some taste testing to do in the streets! Dinner and a drink was less than $3 Canadian! I think I could get used to this! Next stop, 7 11. Same as ours, except the nachos and cheese display case was filled with doughy little rice ...

      At the end of the day, have fun and pay as much as you are comfortable with, remember $1 is a lot to them and not much to us.

      ... islands before exploring Phuket Town Old Town, which was a really interesting and beautiful place, its a pity we couldn't stay longer really but our driver was waiting for us! When we got back we decided as we were in Thailand we really should go to the cabaret as lady boys is what it's famous for, and what a night of glittery, sequinned camp it was - great fun, not particularly well executed in bits, such as when the spot light ...

      ... in public! Lunch was followed with a visit to someone's home who had pet monkeys that were trained to climb trees to pick coconuts. They gave us a demonstration and after the monkey collected the coconut the owner prepared it so that we could drink it! He also had a really small one year old monkey that people could pick up and get photos with. Our last destination of the day was another beach where we got some time chill and enjoy the view before heading back on the boat to the ...

      Thai fruit: Jackfruit (my new favourite fruit) and mangosteens. Also tried durian and discovered the tastes is far worse than the smell!
