The weather during December in Chicago has set a new record for the lowest snowfall on record - basically none in a month where it always snows. The record could be the result of a lack of precipitation or a lack of cold temperatures. We can confirm that during our time here it has been dry and not the result of excessively mild conditions. For example, when we woke this morning the temperature was around -12C, yet deceptively clear and sunny; from the confines of ...

He flirted with the women who wanted to flirt, helped the very elderly get around, took care of a woman who had had a stroke, played with the kids, and made sure that I got off and back on the train at every stop that was possible. I have a friend that has a ranch, but didn't go there and normally Powwows and rodeos are on weekends, and we weren't there when they were going on. So...while in Iowa, I took Dolly to a Casino. Don and Barb had mentioned one about 30 miles west of Muscatine, so that's where we went.
As we pulled up, it ...

Chicago, windy city by the big lake!

... Eventually I roll myself up into a tiny ball, wrapped up in my winter jacket. Why Americans are so obsessed with having their surroundings as cold as their Starbucks drink I will never understand. Nor will I accustom to it. Thus, reminder for the next trip: TAKE BLANKET AS CARRY-ON !!!

I wake up to a new scenery being revealed by the rising sun: endless fields of (still yellow) grass with a few farm houses ...
