Our noon flight to Miami was two hours late. As we had left the hotel by 9:30 and arrived at Jose Marti International Airport by 10, we had plenty of time to clear immigration, customs and security, for long good-byes and promises to stay in touch and for shopping for last minute trinkets, coffee and chocolate.

Aside from being super bummed about not being able to make my trip, I needed to find a way to get some money back! So I joined a travel forum, Virtual Tourist...what an amazing travel community. Seriously, one user even contacted the hotel where I had the reservation and tried getting me a refund! STRANGERS HELPING STRANGERS!!!

... the dock area their home allowing visitors to pet their coarse skin, feed them bread and swim the same shores. We walked to the beach there and enjoyed swimming in the crystal clear waters, digging out feet in the pink sands and just staring at the beautiful world surrounding us.

We grudgingly departed the following morning for our last leg of the return to the US. One more 29 hour run and we made dock at our own familiar slip in North Miami. So strange ...
