Kia Ora New Zealand

A travel blog entry by musictechqueen

We arrived safe and sound with all 10 pieces if luggage ("that's a bit silly" was Zach's comment when we just did the count, and it all fit (just) in our lovely Ssangyong SUV. Thanks to google maps on Jen's phone we found Chifley Suites in downtown Auckland no drama. Then it was all about sleep! We went for a walk and a tour around in the city link …

The Weary Wanderers

Have I said we packed too much? Yeah, way too much! But thanks to the New Zealanders, upon arrival it was smooth sailing through customs. We gathered our luggage and hailed a taxi (van).
New Zealand, like Australia, is a drive on the left country. For the first little
bit it was a bit disconcerting for everyone to have been driving on the …

First Day In New Zealand

A travel blog entry by stephaniehawks

After approximately 17 hours on a plane and very little sleep, we had to walk around the city for eight more hours waiting for the room to be ready. It was a very long wait to say the least. I did stop and get a wonderful hair cut that included the most perfect hair washing by the most wonderful girl. What I have found is that the people here are …

The flight descent into Auckland over the coast of New Zealand was spectacular and was just the start of things to come. Most people say the South Island is the prettiest, not seen that yet, but can tell you the North Island is spectacular.

Got the bus from the airport into town and found our accommodation, that's when the trouble started …

The Last Supper

A travel blog entry by travel_devil

Our last full day in New Zealand. We're heading from Rotorua to Auckland for our last night.

I was really impressed with the service we got from our hosts at BK's Rotorua Motor Lodge. We needed to get from the motel to the tourist center to catch the bus we had booked to Auckland. The hosts at the motel offered to call us a shuttle for …

Quiet, great service, friendly staff, very centrally located, very clean, close to coffee bars and brekkie spots, comfy beds. Bonus washer and dryer. Would highly recommend to others.

    Nice accommodations in central location

The room was perfect as a place for our transition from central standard time in the U.S. to that plus 19 hours. The view of the sky tower was great and the central location made it easy to walk to the pier. The people were very nice and were always very willing to help a foreigner.

Overall, nice place, beautiful view, but noisy

The apartment was quite nice; however, we did not think to check if it had air conditioning (something we are accustomed to.) By the end of our visit, I was ready to leave. It was extremely noisy at night, and we had to sleep with our windows open due to the heat. Please note that it was New Years weekend, so I'm sure the noise had a lot to do with the timing. The fold out couch was not a good place to sleep, and I would have preferred a queen bed to the twin beds we pushed together. Nice place for 4 people especially if you want to be close to all the action of Auckland.

Highly recommended, spacious, affordable, self-contained apartment accommodation just 2 minutes walk from the Skytower. A bit noisy on Fri / Sat nights but generally very good.
