Heathrow security agents had completely torn apart and emptied her carry-on (which is all we travel with) and purse. My sweet little school marm wife was being read the riot act because she had too many liquid containers to fit into her quart bag. They were counting and protesting all of the medicinal items like prescriptions and nasal spray and contact solution that US security allows to be packed outside the quart bag liquids.

... pain, we went seeking some band aids to cure it. And this is where the wise part came in. We didn't find any band aids, but we did find a dozen beers. For €4! We knew Spain was cheap, but this cheap? 12 cans of beer for €4? That's insane in Spain! On our first night we had a long walk through the town up to the Sagrada Familia to have a look at the Basilica from the outside.  We then checked out the local restaurants and dined in the square not far from our hotel.  The Paella was delicious.   Eating with the locals out under the trees and watching young future soccer champions practice their ball skills was a real treat.   We had a city tour with a local guide who pointed ...
