2, Dindigul Road Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India
... road, and our rickshaw drove around it quietly while beeping at its fellow man in warning. Banana leaves and sugarcanes and coconuts lined the road, the houses flat roofed, or covered in plaited reeds or coconut leaves to keep the rain out, their walls low and windows small to keep cool, painted demure colours and most bearing advertisements in 50's lettering of the businesses that the premises contained.

Poverty was all around, skinny, veiny legs showed from under the men's ...
Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India gabador... br>
After this temple, we went to the Rock Fort Temple, which is placed on the top of a hill. It wasn't a very difficult climb up, but from the temple on top, you could get a really good view of the whole city. This temple was dedicated to Ganesha, the god with the elephant head. These temples were also good to visit with a guide because otherwise I don't think there would have been too much to see.

Small children and babies all seem to behave and are carried, wile others quietly follow thro’ with parents. This is no trial for any of them: rather an exciting wait and run up to see their Lord Venkateshwara.

Various customs surround the visits, in terms of hygiene, dress ...
Tamil Nadu, India lyncraven... until the bus did!! Needless to say, it was absolutely hopeless and I ended up moving and watching the day appear from the dark!!

I waited until the reasonable hour of 8am and then took a rickshaw to local guesthouses to try to get a room, a shower and a sleep. But to no avail. Just like Madurai, the rooms were costly and the town just didn’t seem to warrant paying that kind of money for what I wanted to see there. So I settled for a rickshaw tour, with my backpack in tow ...
Tamil Nadu, India lyncraven... underneath then you drag one on top of the other and wallah! you have a mattress that's 4cm instead of 2cm thick. It's hot as hell here and a dirty, noisy, sprawling city. We had bought Mono Loco a new outfit in the temple in Madurai that was a gold chest plate and turban hat so he didn't really want to take it off and i folded and let him sleep in it. He really misses his other mum because i don't let him eat candy because it's not sattvic (pure ...

Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India nanagnana... Thailand was cheap, India is amazing. We have been eating like kings for about 2 bucks each a meal and you can easily get by on less than 4 bucks a day for food, Furthermore, we are supposed to be in the most expensive province, Kerala. T he Keralan Backwaters To rent a houseboat is at the top of everyone's to do list in Kerala, known to the locals as "Gods own country." Kerela is located near the bottom of India on the West Coast and has had numerous ...
Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India mericanomad... the calf was nowhere to be seen. The mother cow refused to drink water, and the worst was feared. Ramesh set off to look for the calf. By that time, it was pitch dark and we decided we must return to our rest house, 4km away. We had torches but the road condition was so appalling, more so in the dark, that we could not walk too fast for fear of stumbling [and breaking our very precious glasses]! Halfway through, Prema called to tell us to be ...

This is the same town where most of our agencies are located, so I'm hoping I will get a chance to wander around into the shops. We didn't get home until 10am, so we slept until 4. That's when the fun started! Allison, Aimee, and I took a rickshaw to the French part of town for lunch, where we broke down and went to a restaurant for brick oven pizza, (which was delish.) We ...
Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, India monnat07... in worse. We only have one full day here so we decide to spent it at the Rock Fort and see the temple. We take the bus which is cheap and over crowded. It is hotter than hot and walking through the bizarre at the bottom is hard enough never mind the 437 steps we have yet to encounter. We leave our shoes and set of climbing the first section which is all inside. Then you get to the outside part and the floor burns your feet so we hop from shade to shade and rest under the ...
