For the first time on this trip, we slept in, then enjoyed a leisurely breakfast. As a gift from the hotel, we were given buffet breakfast for each of our three days here. The buffet arrangements are lavish, complete with pastries, fresh and dried fruits, cereals, fresh squeezed juices, a tea bar, mimosas, a charcuterie bar, yogurts, omelette stations, and locally made jams. We discovered yesterday that the resort also has a kids' area called Porto Pirata, ...

... we drove due south to the small village of Carrapateira, a magnet for the surfing fraternity due to the nearby Praia de Bordeira, but first it was lunchtime. The well-rated Micro Bar was our choice which has a very 'cool', laid back atmosphere in keeping with the area's seaside pastimes, our waiter sported dreadlocks, cowrie-shell ankle bracelet and a Bob Marley tee-shirt to give the flavour of the place. Well, we made it to Lagos!

We have sailed over 1200 miles and really enjoyed exploring Portugal.

I have discovered that I like sardines and that I have an allergy to something shell fishy!

I became a 'HB' and am now a'TB'.... An honorary boy because I was the only woman in an all male crew who mucked in and then a true boy because I could pull halyards and sheets like the rest of them! Quite an honour!

    Lagos

A travel blog entry by a.baker.abroad on Jun 21, 2015

First stop in Portugal - the beach side town of Lagos! After a big night in Marbella to finish we were a little rough driving to Lagos but the hangover was instantly gone once we arrived in beautiful town of Lagos. Aqua waters, blue skies and very welcoming hosts at the Big Chill hostel was exactly what we needed. We spent the arvo chilling on the oversized bean bags and getting to know our fellow travellers. ...
