These long Norwegian nights are amazing and we all sat around for hours until about midnight before they drifted off, some by boat, some by car, some on foot.
It was a sea-food day, so there were prawns aplenty, crabs, marron-like things, and Anika cooked some fresh-caught (like off the quay right here) local mackerel.

... were reasonably busy with holiday traffic. This was the only downside of the Swedish portion of the route-a fair portion of our riding was on busy roads rather than designated cycling routes as we'd been accustomed to. We gained the impression too from the very old North Sea cycle route signs-often completely faded away, that cycling isn't a huge pastime in Sweden. Nonetheless the route was still pretty spectacular, although a little unnerving at times!

Inside the glacier it was a warm -2 degrees and a Swedish ice sculpturer had craved out brief symbols of Norwegian folklore in the ice which was interesting to learn about. The Glacier was amazing to be inside of, although we didn't last all that long, despot being dressed and prepared for the occasion and quickly decided it was time to go ...
... we drove a little further south to Stavern, which is a very appealing little village which grew to prominence in the 1770s as the King's boat-yard and as a consequence they had a huge work-force housed in massive dormitory-style accommodation, that is now a series of museums and galleries, and also being quite strategic, it was also heavily fortified and housed a sizeable defence force.

His friend has a what appears from the outside to be a tired old, ummm, I guess we'd call it an old shed, but when you open the newish door, there is a nicely, rustically renovated party house, with all facilities, a huge table and chairs to seat about 20, the mandatory fire-place, candelabras ...
