From Bangkok I took a (very) small plane to the island of Ko Samui. Met a British girl, Kate, on the plane that was also part of the retreat. ... On the quiet road outside there was two Chinese girls crying hysterically. And they said to to me, "have you booked in here, because if you have you won't be able to stay" wondering what the hell was going on I marched up the beaten path to what I can only describe as I shell of a building. There was no reception, no doors, building work was still being done, but there was a couple of travellers on their iPhones chilling out. Then ...

... to climb the path to the top. The path had been formed naturally and the only man made aid was a rope that ran along it so you could pull yourself up. All the lads doing the trek were topless. That now familiar closeness of the jungle made its mark in the form of sweat streaks that ran down our chest and torsos. Occasionally I would pause for a brief rest, I found myself doubled up with my hands on my knees, the sweat poured off the tip of my nose on to the boulder on which I ...
