To get to the U.S. at Sault Ste. Marie you have to take the International bridge over the St. Marie river which is where Lake Superior dumps into Lake Huron. There is a fancy hotel on the island called The Grand Hotel which was quite stunning. We knew we would not be able to fit in there since it cost $10.00 just to go inside if you are not a registered guest. This hotel sits close to the Governor of Michigan's summer home so you see how "uptown" this setting is!
