... made it to the post office, filled out the multitude of unnecessary forms (really, why even bother itemizing the entire contents of each box twice when it's not even insured anyhow?), and then run a few errands, it was already 5:00. Our party was set to begin at 8:00, and we still had loads to do before then. I had planned to cook up whatever we had left on the shelves, so I set to that task while Konrad went on a mission to pick up some ...
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia koppersHello :D
Just writing this at Kuala Lumpur airport whilst waiting to get on my next plane. I'm using old fashioned notebook and pencil but I'll copy this on to the blog as soon as I'm able.
All good so far. I'm a bit fuzzy around the edges but surviving. Turns out I really like flying :D It was all a bit daunting around departures at Heathrow but I did stop missing Dave enough to be most amusted that teh wonderland beyond ...
Yippee! We're back on the road again with all documents safely in our possession! We were really glad to be traveling again and took a bus straight to Malaysia, having cleared our names at border controls and proved that we were the real Mr and Mrs Nellist they let us on our way. Security measures had obviously been triggered by our names in the system having had our passports stolen!
We arrived in KL and Jin and Su Yin were there to meet us which was great.
We had 4 action ...
... first half, as somehow we went up 2-0 on the Brazilians. Sadly, the Brazilians made a comeback, and what could have been a major breakthrough win for the U.S., ended in a 3-2 loss. Great for the U.S. though.
After a great nights rest, we grabbed some snacks and water and headed up the road. Little did we know, we were in for a good workout today. We were going to take a trail that goes to the highest peak in the area at 6,666 ft., and down a road along one ...
... one of my biggest challenges so far: in a world where I’m used to the internet literally being in my pocket, not being connected to the rest of the world SUCKS. I talked to Mr. Baskar, and he agreed to let Emily and I use his internet modem for 3 hours that night. Hopefully this becomes consistent, or else I’ll be screwed. I went to sleep that night and woke up with about 20 mosquito bites. Ouchies. Luckily, my mom packed me a lot of ...
Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia shivan... us and ask our opinion of Medan, they were all 19 years old but they looked like 12 year olds they were so tiny.
Another long bus journey to Bukit Lawang - by public bus complete with a live chicken and all sorts of goods being brought on board by the locals. At the bus station we were advised to take a "becha" (motorcycle with a sidecar attached) to the hotel area. We asked for the hostel but instead of being taken there we were taken to ...
... into Ian's backpack, it was now time to take the KLIA Ekspres (this was the first of many Malay phonetic approximations of English words we spotted) to KL Sentral Station in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, and just across the street from our swank new digs and home base for the next couple of days: the KL Hilton. Riding the KLIA Ekspres We were in Malaysia, on the other side of the world!
Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan, Malaysia bruceandianLeft the centre about 10am. Had drinks in Port Dickson. Waiting for bus, but it broke down. After two hours to wait. Wandered around; went back to coffee shop; started to pour. Bus comes. Got sopping wet getting onto bus. Ride home dull. Rode with Fiona to AFS House. She was supposed to stay with the chaperon but ended up staying with me instead.
Petaling jaya, Malaysia ahartrySchool was okay today. During break, I was stuck being the Go-between for two students who either are or are not in love, depending on what the other just said, and the time of day. Sigh. I hate being the sympatico outsider. In the evening, went swimming with Pat, Cze Loon, and Jay at the Royal Commonwealth Society. On the way home, we stopped by Jay's place. I borrowed three books. Read when we got home, then bed, about 11:30pm.
Petaling jaya, Malaysia ahartryDuring Kertas Am, I argued with Arul and worked on the sketches for the magazine. Same during Physics. Stayed upstairs for break, but went down for line-up. No Maths lessons. During Chem Pract, we waited and waited and waited and waited and waited for the Editorial Board photo. School out 1:15pm. Were supposed to sell "flim" show tickets after school but that never materialized. Quiet afternoon. In the evening, organized all Pat's music.
