... want to do and our budget.

We book into a lovely quiet apartment overlooking meadows of wildflowers in the town of Ribcev Laz for 3 nights. Our first day is spent on a walk of 4 hour circumnavigating the lake which includes a enchanting forest walk. We finally made it to Bled from Bratislava after taking a taxi, 3 trains, and 2 buses- all in all, 7 hour day of travel. A light lunch there is very pleasant and ...

... an easy walk although not wheelchair friendly. But the views are stunning, photos do not do it justice, you can see to the bottom of deep pools where perch and trout loiter avoiding the fishermen further downstream. The waterfalls and rills of fast running water are mesmerising and we walk for about an hour then stop for the inevitable coffee and water back at the ticket office before coming back into town ...

... short trip to this tiny capital city. Dead on time our transfer arrives, again it is only the two of us and a private taxi. It takes only just over 30 minutes to drive to Lake Bled and the Park Hotel right on the lakeside. It is a Yugoslav era spa hotel, currently undergoing a fair amount of renovation. It is obviously used extensively by tour groups, there are notices in reception from at least three companies. Our room is not facing ...
