Chicago, IL: Day 4

A travel blog entry by bronny23 on Feb 27, 2015

... We slept in then caught the train north, about 15-20 minutes. We had some breaky/brunch at Starbucks as there wasn't another cafe in sight and we were starved - 11:00 am-ish by this stage. I love their basil pesto, spinach, bochincinni and semi-dried tomato panini anyway; quite boring of me I guess considering I'm supposed to be surrounded by all this glorious US food, but it's my easy to reach go-to food. Tried to have an early start, and left around 10am. A lovely sunny morning, not too cold, didn't need gloves, or to have my hood up. Needed my beanie of course. My pink chemo one isn't warm enough, so have bought a warmer tea cosy type. Ma wouldn't like it, but in this climate there is no room for fashion or flattering styles. Everyone dresses for warmth and comfort. The salt they spread on the road and footpaths gets into everything, and melts to leave white stains and ...

Architectural Nerds!

... which we hadn’t come across before in the states. This lil gem seemed like the perfect rest stop for a healthy-ish lunch. The servings were more indicative of those you see in Australia so we left the diner satisfied and not too overfull. It made the gentle stroll back towards the Chicago River a lot more pleasant as we weren’t gasping for air or seeking out a place to sleep off our food coma. We sat along the Chicago River and waited for Natalie and the start of ...
