... one is sensible as a first timer. We stopped for breakfast at a little lavender farm and to honour Jack Johnson I ordered banana pancakes. And new street food for lunch...cheese quesadillas :) Tonight I am in Honolulu...my first impressions are busy...kind of Phuket style with some Hollywood street hawkers thrown in for good measure...so many tourists and shops. Really not my kind of scene so far so I'm heading out snorkelling tomorrow to get away from the hustle and ...

We saw a parade of some description going on in the pool and entertainment area from our lanai. We went down with the camera and saw a celebration for Princess Kuilaiani who died at age 23. She was sent to Europe to experience the different cultures by her Uncle David who was King of Hawaii in the later 1880's. The local school ...

... Curl' - it is where the world surf championships are held each year in December. No huge waves today, just mini ones, but goodness were they powerful - I got a bit worried about Sebastian at one point. We then went for a walk opposite the beach, in Waimea Valley which is tropical and vegetated with colourful, beautiful flowers, old trees, and which led us to a waterfall and swimming hole. Again, it was nature at its best, exploding with colour, fecundity and ...
