... so we could ask for directions to the metro. Coffee at the counter is only one euro where if you sat down it can cost several euro. We stood at the counter with our coffee and I had latte macchiato which was so good. The coffee in Italy is so good I don’t feel like I need to add sugar, and can enjoy coffee the way it was intended.

The red-purple marble 'porphyrus' columns are apparently worth 120 million euros each as all the porphyrus was mined out over a 300 yr period by the Romans. It is extremely hard and rare, coincidentally the Vatican has managed to 'obtain' 92% of the worlds stock and the rumours are it uses it as guarantee for loans it takes out.

... siren going off!! The B&B building is characteristic of many in the area and you almost feel like a local as you enter through huge locked brass doors into a private lift and stairwell. We are on the 4th floor which hosts 3 double rooms, our own private bathroom and a shared kitchen with breakfast provided and free wifi. For on 65 euros a night its lovely and cheap, clean and very conveniently located. We finished the night relaxing as tomorrow we have a full day trip to ...
