... and it seemed to be all uphill.

After lunch we visited the Lipica Horse stud. It's here where the Lippizan horse breed was started. We stopped by the fence on the way in and I fed some of the horses an apple. We went on a little tour around the stud and then there was a 45 minute show of the famous Lippazan horses. They performed dressage movements, long rein work, carriage work and the jumps that the horses are famous for.

... It was beautiful countryside, with forests giving way to green hills where sheep or cattle grazed. We finally reached the Gov-Vrsnik Family Farm in late afternoon, finding it so pristine and tranquil, the frustration of multiple u-turns the past few hours immediately evaporated.

Marjana Vrsnik greeted us with a sunshiny smile that brightened the gray skies. It turned out that we were the only guests for the night, but tomorrow ...

... with a 4-5 km walk over dark and slippery paths and steps so I only tasted the very delicious wine.

After leaving the bus, we walked along a pretty path through woods and fields to the entry into the caverns (the entry is down into a collapsed valley) following our very nice guide, Anna. Once in the caves, although it was dark, every step up or down and most of the rough and slippery spots were either well lighted or Anna assisted with ...
