Make Love~ Not War
So surviving almost drowning in a boat ride, makes one pretty hungry! The restaurant here at the Sanctuary closes at 9, which is another sign Ive picked a quiet place where things close down at a decent time, and the menu here is almost all vegetarian, with a few seafood choices....those chickens are dirty little creatures...I should know, I grew …
Buckets – Scuba Diving : 1 – 0
I am now at the Sanctuary
in Koh Phangan. It's the place my sister has told me about, it's on
an isolated beach. You arrive here by boat, and all is around yoga,
well being and spirituality. I've already met exciting people and
I'll write more about this place in a future post (I feel I will stay …
Half Moon Party
Tonight was the night of the party which Koh Phangan is known for; the Half Moon Party. Ok so it's not as famous as the notorious Full Moon Party but we missed that by two days when we arrived and so we will have to make do with the Half Moon instead!
The day started off with another two hour early session of Muay Thai. This would now make …
Muay Thai and Rugby
Yesterday was our day off from Muay Thai training and boy did we need it. We were in pieces after our first days training and spent the whole day crashed out on the beach. I think this could possibly be the hottest place in the world! Even sitting in your bikini you are covered in a layer of sweat, you can't do anything about it and it’s …
Bruised, Battered and shattered
Today is our first day of training and yes, why not start off by training for 4 hours today!!??
We arrived at the camp at 7.30am (after climbing the numerous rock steps up to the camp) and the first thing Eck said to us was 'sleep well?!'. He knew that we didn’t spend the night at the camp and thought that we had been scared off by …

TravelPod Member ReviewsThe Sanctuary Island Resort Ko Phangan
The people, the place, the food, the yoga , the rest: you'll never leave!

The Sanctuary is everything you do not expect it to be. It is NOT a resort and it should not earn the right to call itself just that. The Sanctuary gets many recommendations, I am not sure why. Here we go: the restaurant was infested with flies, it is dirty, and it seems like it never gets cleaned (you sit on pillows on the floor, the pillows are dirty, the tables are not clean, the menu's smell and the ketchup bottles etc. are yukkie). They make you pay for any extra's (which is fine, but not when the honey I ordered comes with ants). The dorm had lots of bugs and you sleep on the floor, not even in a bed. Cold water for showering. The dorm is above the restaurant where loud music is played until late. This all would explain the very cheap dorm prices though (200 bath). There is no way to escape the secluded beach but an expensive boat ride. Very inconvenient if you decide to go and explore the island for a day. I did not do any detoxing there as I couldn't bare the thought of having to spend an entire week at the Sanctuary. Wifi is slow and you pay an arm and a leg to use it. There is this negative energy all around the place. The only positive thing about it is the food, which is excellent.
