... janvier 2011, nous partons de Montréal pour New York à 7H00 du matin par autobus Greyhound, dernier modèle de l’année avec internet à bord. A 5H00 déjà assis sur nos valises remplies à fendre les coutures, nous attendons le taxi. Enfin, nous voilà assis confortablement au milieu du bus et le ronflement du moteur nous fait sourire après un long soupir à peine voilé.

So I finally made it to Montreal on a very civilised, fast and clean train from Toronto - only taking me 2h 40m. I was pretty confused by the train station/metro - and was wellll disorientated by having to talk French!

Eventually, I made it to where I was staying - Martin and Guillaume's place in the Villeray area of Montreal. It's a neighbourhood, or even a city, of never ending two and three storey buildings called 'duplexes' or 'triplexes' with apartments ...

... were church kids and were there voluntarily. The whole evening was a success, but I felt very much like we were flying by the seat of our pants, clinging on for dear life. The low point was talkative speakers... we told them they had 45 minutes, we were already running 15 minutes late, and still they ran over by 15 minutes. I kept making rapid arm movements at the back of the room trying to get him to wrap up- they youth had picked between 2 topics, and the other group ...

... to get some fresh air. I walked in the twilight to the supermarket, just for something to do (under the premise of selflessly buying some ingredients we needed for dinner). We finished off the day with a big helping of Robin Hood- I didn't realise I'd never seen it before! Don't tell me, it's not worth fighting for.... etc etc etc.
