We done a day trip to the historic village of Harpers Ferry which borders 3 states. A great little place for lunch and packed with tourists.
The next day we took a quick ride up to West Virginia so I could tick another state off on my bike then we headed for Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive.
Had an amazing ride along the ridge of the mountains with stunning fall scenery. Even saw a couple of baby bears in a tree which caused the usual 'bear jam'. ...

... spa and extensive ski slopes. It's sort of between seasons here. They started snowmaking on Thursday but its been too warm during the day for it to be very successful. ... ring, muenster cheese and homemade BBQ sauce all on top of jalapeno toast!

We're back at the hotel taking a break for our next leg to Asheville, NC tomorrow!

Couple observations while in Virginia: everyone has vanity license plates; you can be in the middle of a city and drive 2 miles out of town and be in the middle of nowhere; A/C is the best invention ever!

    Day Four - Shopping Day

A travel blog entry by meghannphillips on Jul 06, 2012

Today we went to Charlottesville and took our first look at the shops. This was good because they were all air conditioned which is useful being in a heat index of 104 F (40 C) which is a combination of the heat and humidity. In Culpeper there is a heat advisory today, and tomorrow there is an excessive heat warning as its getting so hot!
