Tonight is the last night in Corsica. What a wonderful reunion (and introduction) it has been with the Angonno's. We were musing that none of us had much knowledge of Corsica and selected it as a destination somewhat on a whim. How fortunate our whims are so wise. This place is full of beautiful scenery and lovely people. ...

... pretty beach town. We arrived and realized they were having a fair. What serendipity! We enjoyed seeing the various carnival rides and vendors. And it was eye-opening to experience an outside perspective on America -- check out my photo of the Team USA ride. Yikes. We then found a lovely little restaurant and sat waterside. Magnificent!

No insights. No quips. Just a fun day with some wonderful friends.

My night in Italy offered lots of laughter and some truly phenomenal food -- and a bit too much Italian vino. ...

... We were hoping to spend some time on the beach today either at Calvi or at one of the numerous beaches between our village and Calvi but the wind was blowing a gale. We went down to the beach at Calvi and got well and truly sand blasted. Nice touch, there is a train that goes to the beach - right to the beach. Not a stupid tourist train (and there are plenty of those!), a real train. How good is that? From there, a walk to the citadel, ...

Oh WOW. We have found heaven - think we'll stay. How absolutely gobsmackingly gorgeous can one place be??? We left Bonafacio this morning for what we thought would be a four hour drive up the east coast of the island, across a few mountains in the middle, to our next stop, L'ile Rouse, on the far west coast. Boy, it is spectacular! The drive was shorter than we thought, the roads were great, wide (!!), smooth and with little traffic. We saw a few crazy road signs - a man riding a cow ...
