We each had bright orange wristbands on and also glow stick necklaces.
At the end of each time frame, dozens of workers would locate us based
on our glowing necklace and shuffle us to our next bar. There must have been over 100 backpackers in attendance. So incredible!!!! It was so
easy to make friends simply by these otherwise cheesy necklaces.

Met het boeggelwoeggel treintje naar de Nerang en daar de aansluitende bus naar Surfers, Walhalla voor JA.. de waterratten op planken!

De hoofdstraat is een opeenhoping van fast food tentjes. Waar overdag veel gebruik van wordt gemaakt maar s'avonds het meest als men zich in het bruisende nachtleven van Surfer's stort.

Perfect voor een day trips and weekend trips.

... Haken wir hatten nicht gefragt wie weit es noch von da aus war. Nachdem er uns sagte das wir abbiegen sollten (25 Kilometer später), haben wir einen kurzen Stop eingelegt und dort noch einmal nachgefragt. Nachdem wir dann erfahren hatten das es noch ca. 50 Serpentinenstrassen Kilometer bis zum Ziel waren, haben wir uns wieder umentschieden und sind dann doch lieber an den Strand nach Surfers Paradise ...

... out on the streets everywhere: in bushes, park benches, over car hoods, even in fountains. always good for a laugh. getting a taxi was fairly ridiculous, but as would it be in any major city on new years. made an important phone call and was in bed by a respectable 6am, only to wake up at 9am because it was like an oven in our room by that time all in all surfers paradise was okay, if you like ...

My gorgeous, partying-hard friend Ellie who I met in London in the late 90s has turned into a wife, a mother to a beautiful boy Conor and a domestic goddess. Things and people change. No more dancing on top of cupboards (apparently she prefers tables now), wild nights out or wearing ties and waistcoat work uniforms! She is still gorgeous though. I cant wait to unpack all my stuff its driving me nuts living out of my back pack. Iv actually got a bit of a tan now, well its mostly freckles but im getting there lol. ... handlers they don't harm them (unless they get too rough whilst playing!) and it was really fun to see them swimming, chasing balls just like normal cats. Jilly's favourite was the wombats. We didn't know what they looked like before and they were really cute. Very similar to koala's, who were also very very cute - we even got to stroke one, their fur is so soft! ... Ashes hype from the terribly one-sided press. All quite amusing which will make victory that much sweeter. I finally arrived in Brizzy at 8pm on the Wednesday where I met up with Wigan Rob and Handsome Chris who I'd met on the Pakistan and Indian tours (in fact they hadn't been home since India in April so we had a few stories to catch up on). ... way out! In short, definately worth the price and I wish we could do it again because we were so excited that we kind of sped through. Feeling inspired by our fun time at Infinity led us to try out Space Walker, a space themed concept that is run by the same people. Unfortunately by the time we had got there we wouldn't have had enough time to do it properly. It was subsequently added to the list with Shrek 4D of things that we hadn't done that require us to visit again!
