Hello,
We've been so busy I didn't think I'd ever get back to this.
My friend bought some land close to Slocan Lake and invited us down for the long weekend, so of course we went.It turned out to be a wise decision since the temperatures climbed to 40 degrees C. I'm not sure but I think that's around 100 degrees F.
The lifesaver of the weekend of course was the beautiful lake ...
... today's ride...my internal jukebox was malfunctioning. Last night, we played a few tunes, but today my brain got stuck with only two of them..."Come a Long Way" by Michelle Shocked, and "I'm the Other Kind" by Steve Earle. Both great motorcycle tunes...the first coupla hundred times anyway. After I finish writing, I plan to listen to iTunes and fill my brain with fresh music. If you have a suggestion...good riding music for me...please let me know! (Really....Really really ...
Nelson, Canada bill212Crossing the border was not a problem, had to off load a few fruits and veggies. We first went to Nelson BC then a little further north to Kaslo. Hot Springs, golf, boating, new friends, great campground, and a town I really liked.
Went for an adventure into the woods trying to find a natural hot springs, didn't find it but had fun trying.
Just check out the pictures, it's hard to describe the area. It was a great trip.
Got the Greyhound from Kelowna into Nelson late last night, but still had a little time to look around. In the stunning setting of the west arm of Kootenay Lake, the city of Nelson sits largely unoffensively in the valley on the South-Eastern lakeshore. I use the word 'city' here loosely, as it is technically a city, but with a population of 9,000 it's not exactly epic by European standards.
There was a complete lack of franchises in the downtown area, which i guess is done ...

Nelson, British Columbia, Canada tamata09... borscht is almost identical to my grandmother's. I didn't have to twist his arm to convince Larry to share the pyrahi with me so that we can have one of each? Mmmm...dry curd cottage cheese, mashed bean, pea and beet...does it get any better than this?? I don't understand how he can not like borscht though! I loved the suite we had at the Best Western Sunrise Inn in Osoyoos! It was bigger than any 1 bedroom apartment I ever had with a really nice full size kitchen. The couch was a ...
Nelson, British Columbia, Canada campbele... bumps, very painful!), but the live music in the campsite was fantastic. From Christina Lake we had a 15 mile climb to Paulson Summit (1535m). The Canadian Rockies are steeper than the USA mountains. Our descent into Nelson was a nice reward. We're staying at The Dancing Bear Inn (hostel) for 2 nights and it's lovely. Nelson seems to be full of nice Arty and Hippie type people, and it's in a nice setting too beside the lake and surrounded by mountains. PS Enjoy France Adrian!
Nelson, British Columbia, Canada eoinandrosie... We'd heard they were the best hot springs around because they were in the most natural setting, overlooking the lake. The hottest pool went into a cave network in the rock and you could swim inside and around in a big loop through the caves. It was fun but we didn't stay in that one too long as it was like a sauna with the steam rising as well. We were able to cool off in the "glacier plunge pool"! Not far up the road was ...
