Historical Traveler Reviews Mirbeau Inn & Spa Skaneateles

      Great place, great ambiance

      from

I went here last December to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We were going to visit the finger lake wineries in the area, and I thought that this place would be a nice splurge since we both like spa treatments. I found a great deal on the mirbeau website that featured a 2 night for 1 deal so I booked right away! The area is very rustic and I recommend an SUV if you drive up there. We went in the middle of winter, and it snowed like every 2 hours, then cleared, then snowed again. The place is beautiful, even covered in snow. Our room had a fireplace and the neatest bathroom, with a giant tub. The rooms are very large, and beds are extremely comfy. The restaurant there serves excellent food, although a bit pricey to eat there all the time. If you do go up there, try Joe's pasta garage in the town of skaneateles as they serve amazing pasta at reasonable prices. I would go back up there just for that restaurant. The wineries around the area are small but very nice. Some have free tastings, and we bought a lot of wine in the end. Great ice wines in the area! All in all, a beautiful place, no matter what season!

      Expensive but wonderful....

This place is great for that once a year getaway. By the time you have spa treatments and dinner, it quickly adds up to a $500 night. It is really a beautiful Inn though, and well worth the occasional splurge!

      A proffsional Chef is impressed

      from

I made dinner reservations at the Mirabeau for dinner for 2 at 6:00 p.m. When we arrived the whole experience was fantastic. As a professional chef I am not easily impressed with food, it really takes a lot to wow me. I enjoy fine food and thought the food at the Mirabeau was one of the best meals I have had not only in Central New York, but in the 5 states I have lived and worked in (including Las Vagas and Louisville). I was expecting a great meal but this far exceeded our expections. The waitstaff was very tentative, and the F&B Director had a great presents in the room. Thank you for making this a memorable dinner and we will be back again

      Need better customer service

      from

I have travelled to many fine spas and was excited to have one nearby.

There were so many challenges with this experience that I wrote a letter to management wanting to help them with the customer service issues. It has been a month and I didn't receive a response, so I do question their ability to meet customer's needs. I would recommend Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid, NY over this place. The rooms were lovely and the facilities are nice, but if a customer leaves unhappy, it should be corrected!

Tokyo Prices in Upstate New York

      from

Manicures are $75; pedicures $80. This isn't "pampering" so much as "overcharging." There is room service but not until 7:30 AM. The guest rooms are pretty and comfortable but not well lighted. We asked for a ltwo-hours-later checkout and was curtly told that there would be a charge. The gardens and the buildings are lovely but the service is mediocre and the spa offerings and the restaurant food are mind-bogglingly expensive.

      You MUST go Mirbeau!!

      from

I suprised my girlfriend by going to Mirbeau Inn & Spa hoping it would be great. It wasn't great............it was fantastic and memorable.

The food is out of this world and the spa treatments were amazing. Hats off to EVERYONE at Mirbeau. The rooms were decorated just right and the bathrooms were amazing. thank you.

If you love to be pampered...

      from

I travel quite often with my job and it takes me all over the Northeast. I cannot express what a wonderful experiences I have had at Mirbeau. Not only is the spa one of the finest I have been to, but their restaurant if fabulous. When you stay at a resort or spa the one thing that can either make your stay a delight is the staff. Mirbeau's staff is worth the trip alone. I cannot express how much I look forward to going back to Mirbeau each and every time.

      Memorable Evening

      from

I searched for about 3 months for an evening to be pampered, and enjoy special cuisine. After extensive research I learned of this location and I am very glad that I did. There were a few stuffy guests, but they were completely invisible due to the attentive hosts. The food was absolutely fabulous and the wait staff was excellant. And the view of Monet's garden was a pleasure. Thank you for keeping our anniversary as special as it deserves to be.

Phone skills need to focus on the customer

      from

Just wanted to try this place out , have been to many top notch spa's, but that does not mean I have alot of money to throw around. Work hard and when I spend money want a good value. I will send a review after we go. But while scheduling full day of services for my wife and I , felt rushed and thought since I was booking $ 900.00 worth of services for the day that I should have much better treatment. All I was trying to do was make sure our schedule was flawless so we had no disappointments and a great day. The person on the phone was rather short instead of aiding and helpful to make everything go smoothly.

      Terrible customer service

      from

I recently had to cancel a trip to upstate NY due to an illness. When I phoned the hotel, I tried to explain the dilemma I was in. I could understand having to forfeit part of the cost of the room, since it would probably go empty that night. Instead we were forced to pay far more, for services that we had not used, and which we were cancelling with more than 24 hrs notice. The staff were inflexible and arrogant, as if it were our fault that we were down with the flu. We were upset that we missed our trip, but the attitude and the difficulty in dealing with the staff turned an already bad situation worse.

      Trying to get to NYC

Welp! Travel with today's airline industry means nothing is ever on time. The flight coming from NYC to SYR is delayed. That means we are delayed. Katie and I decided to head down to NYC a night early for this very reason. There is a lot less risk this way -- plus I think we can find something to do while we are in the city. Oh - and at the airport. Also for those keeping score our bag weights are ...

As such, I wanted to start with this entry to get a feel for the platform and get rid of a boring blank page. I think this resource will be valuable in both recording my memories and also sharing them with other friends and family to keep connected.

      Syracuse Revisited

We have just finished up a restful visit to Syracuse, the town Ben had lived in while he did his undergraduate studies at SUNY ESF (State University of NY College of Environmental Science and Forestry...say that 3 times really fast!).

One thing that really stands out is the weather. The weather was pretty blah when we first got into town. In fact, on our way in, we were met with spotty snow and rain.

      Departed Chicago for Syracuse

... even offered me a box to take the rest with me, but decided it wouldn't be too good after being on the road for a couple of hours. Went to Rolling Rock Speedway and had a chat to the only Australian driver Kerry Madsen and an American Chad Cavanagh - both really nice, so I was going for them. Kerry came 4th and poor old Chad was towards the back of the pack. A couple of big crashes but thankfully no injuries - well serious ones ...
