Although the New Year isn't for another week, the school holds such celebrations as the school Easter holidays begin on Wednesday. All teachers welcomed me with open arms into their classrooms to watch their lessons. Everyone is just so friendly over here! I have been having a long hard think about the idea of continuing this blog and did not wish to act hastily. Certainly, it was becoming difficult to keep the blog up along with my submissions to Virtual Tourist (my preferred travel site) but that is not the reason for my next statement, I have managed to do both before.

I mentioned in the opening entry of this blog that I had ...

... day. Sri Lanka was hit hard by the tsunami, and in some ways it was damaged doubly, as I read that the post-tsunami turmoil caused the civil war to heat up again, just when it seemed like the country was on the brink of peace. Thousands more lost their lives in the next 4.5 years of war.

We also visited the maritime museum, because that's what we do in these historic Indian Ocean trade route cities. We got gelato (we were so happy to find gelato again!) ...
