September is Youth Month in Rīga. That means that the City Council not only supports all kinds of activities for youngsters (rrrrrr.... that term still gives me the shivers), but also organizes one or two nice things for the organizations that work with/for youths. So this weekend, homo ecos: was invited to join a teambuilding camp in Mangaļsala, a forest by the sea just outside the city limits.

... hit whilst we were there.

Continued on towards Jurmala, which is only about 25kms west of Riga, but just as we were leaving Sabine, we spotted a couple of rare blue cows, so stopped and took photos. There are only about 100 blue cows left in Latvia. They are able to withstand the cold, wind and rain much better than the average cow, and as a result, a lot of cross breeding has been done.

... stop for bus 53 was near the Nativity of Christ Cathedral. It was very impressive inside. Raewyn couldn't explore as it was customary for women to wear head scarves and she didn't have one. The interior was painted beautifully and was very blue and sparkly. We then walked to our main first object, the museum of occupations.
