... a way, the lack of a memorial suggests that there is a subtle effort to actively forget the darker sides of their history.

But Mr. Grube's belief, and my belief as well, is that while it is difficult to face these times in history that are shameful or terrible, the history of Dachau (and other sites) has much to teach us. One important lesson we learned was that Dachau was used as a propaganda camp to suggest to the outside world ...

... there for an hour and then on our way to Mainz to drop off car and get train to Munich (4 hrs). Arrived in Munich and walked to hotel from train station and had dinner at Lenz, which hotel recommended. Had our first German breakfast in Munich and walked to city center for the day, long day. Saw the Glockenspiel, all the churches ...

... beer tents at the festival. When we got there, there was a mob of about 100 people outside pushing and shoving to get it, and 3 security guards that were literally the scariest men I have ever seen in my life. Nothing special other than reasonable rate

Quite a way from main Munich attractions, but reasonable cost to stay if travelling out of Munich following day with no real need to see the city. If travelling by car then distance is not really a problem. Wi-fi, parking and breakfast included in the rate. Rooms are ok.
