... Czech border. We started in Oybin, a pretty little village with an impressive pile of rocks topped by a fortress. It was a fairly steep walk up, but we stopped half way to visit the little chapel where Mario's parents had recently renewed their marriage vows. It is absolutely beautiful inside, with columns painted to look like marble and creeping plants to decorate the pews. The altar screen is lovely, as is the organ, ...

On Monday we stayed at the castle and started the day with guided trekking around the castle grounds. Our 4 mile hike included stunning views and a lot more hills and stairs through the rock cities. Our leader was a woman from the castle who filled us in on the history of the area and other facts. We ...

... was still a little wet. It dried the next night however so all good. We started the trip again with no iPad, as it had run out from the day before. We had a little blurry map on my phone and Paul's Europe directory map which we used. As soon as we began the ride, the hills started with us. For the whole day today we rode up hill after hill after hill. It was so hard because our legs were so weak from 5 days of straight riding with no practice whatsoever, ...
