Good place to stay, different numbered houses the cheapest and most basic being 1, we stayed in 3. Good bed, en suite bathroom with lots of hot water. Teak floors nice furnishings. Only down side is you can hear music from nearby bar until 2am if you are a light sleeper. The restaurant is also good.

I'm not actually sure how many times we've stayed here now, but it's a few and we are heading back again next year.

This place is amazingly comfortable for the price and Sin, Vincent and Cha are always about to help you out.

Sin has gotten herself the restaurant next door to the reception now and makes some awesome meals for a great price

Just after midnight the train stopped at a station, and there were several more stops at stations or to allow a train to thunder past in the other direction. Because we were in the bunks nearest to the end of the carriage, where it coupled with the next, I think we got a bit more noise and banging, especially over points. A noisy night, with very …

Chiang Mai is about 12 hours north of Bangkok via trian. We took the overnight train to minimize travel time and still enjoyed some scenery for a few hours in the morning. Unlike my first train ride which was mostly with Thai, the sleeper cars on this train were entirely filled with tourists. It was about $26.  We picked and checked into a basic …

We were welcomed to the city of Chiang Mai by a downpour. Did I mention it's the rainy season here? We hopped in a cab and headed straight for our hotel - a legit luxury hotel with all the trimmings for about $25. We started off with a swim in the hotel's pool. It was actually a bit cooler today than it was in Bangkok. The rain let up enough for...
