      Value for money

Clean rooms, hot coffee and very odd bathrooms. Staff here are the nicest so far on our journey. Budget, no pool, restaurant only open after 5. Very good value for money, has fountains and outdoor areas, good aircon, fairly good wifi, lots of restaurants in area, walking distance to water palace.
If you stay here you must check out kedais restaurant 600 m up the road and over the crossing into Jalan Tirtodipuran. It's unbelievable.

Nice room, really awesome bathroom and beautifull garden. There's a can with hot water for tea or coffee outside the room every morning. The location is good, close to the kraton, saras wati temple and the bird market.

... out to have Christmas dinner. Dinner this year consisted of Norwegian Salmon with Mash for Chris and a Mediterranean Meze Patter for me, a lot better than the buffet we had last year in Queenstown. We went for a couple of beers but it was very quiet so we headed back to Skype everyone as it was morning back home. It was really nice to see and speak to everyone, Christmas this year was even harder than last year as we were all on our lonesome and there wasn't much ...

... nah. Few pointers if you are heading this direction: If you are ordering an iced drink (tea, juice etc.) be sure to ask for the sugar on the side (as they say it here 'sugar outside please'). The amount of sugar (syrup) added automatically to all drinks will make you to see stars when you try it- take it from someone who back at home is considered a 'sugar beast'. Since we left Ireland I'm 100% vegetarian- generally it's much easier to be a vegetarian in Asia than back at ...

... damage from a natural disaster (this time the 2006 earthquake... Wow, Java does not get a break from natural disasters!), the main temples are still standing. However, they are surrounded by piles of sad-looking rubble. It will still take many years to fully restore Prambanan to its full glory. The Buddhist 'Sewa' temple, lies just a 15-20 minute walk from Prambanan, demonstrating a great level of tolerance between these two religions. Having spent a few ...

... of exploring Borobudur Temple, is to enter in the main entrance and turn left, following the passages clockwise. This was so that the intricate carvings along the walls told the story of Buddha's past lives and accension to Nirvana. Knowing this would be packed with people we decided to go anti-clockwise instead, thereby avoiding spending too long in the company of vast school groups. We made our way to the upper levels of the temple, with each level having better preserved carvings ...

... Jimmy sold us some excursions and activities. It was handy as we had not had chance to figure out what to do. We chose to go to some temples, again and I was able to convince Jane to go to a traditional ballet, which included an Indonesian culinary experience, that would take care of tomorrow. The hotel was decadent and unfussy. It was filled with antique furniture in a colonial style building. There as a swimming pool which would ...
