Clean rooms, hot coffee and very odd bathrooms. Staff here are the nicest so far on our journey. Budget, no pool, restaurant only open after 5. Very good value for money, has fountains and outdoor areas, good aircon, fairly good wifi, lots of restaurants in area, walking distance to water palace.
If you stay here you must check out kedais restaurant 600 m up the road and over the crossing into Jalan Tirtodipuran. It's unbelievable.

Nice room, really awesome bathroom and beautifull garden. There's a can with hot water for tea or coffee outside the room every morning. The location is good, close to the kraton, saras wati temple and the bird market.

Pretty sure I've nicked that title from an old Guardian column circa 1980 but as google says "No", as it does with many things from just before the era of the internet, then it's mine, all mine.

Things I've omitted to tell you about Yogya. Well, for a start, it's not me being trendy by shortening the name. They have two ways of doing it here, Yogya or Jogja, because writing out all those letters all the time is a pain. It's too hot to be long-winded ...

Sitting in a little coffee place in Jogja (as locals call Yogyakarta) and waiting for a plane to Kuala Lumpur. What do I think of Indonesia after spending a month in here? From only the fraction of the country I saw- it's mostly friendly country with loads to see/do. A country which sometimes will teach you am unexpected lesson of being happy with what you have. A country in which a complete stranger will go out of their ways to help you without you even asking for help. A ...

... I was thinking about something local and suddenly came out in my mind, a Chinese restaurant in Magelang where my family used to eat on special occasion. The taste was different from Chinese food in Jakarta. The food in the restaurant is still delicious as ever. We ordered cap cay, babi panggang, sapo tahu.

We shopped batik before we went to our hotel. It was Tjokro Suharto, a vintage souvenir shop. We found cute batik dresses for ...

One day I'm in office, the next day I'm climbing a mountain, crossing river streams and standing under waterfalls.

Writing travel notes are getting tiring due to the sheer numbers these months!

So we rushed to catch our flight at 750pm and get some dinner. The flight was early and we soon met our driver and was on our way to mount bromo. Sean had thought we could just hang out at some possibly non existent 24 hour cafe to wait the 2-3 ...

Having heard all about the Volcanoes which I'm sure I must have studied in geography, we decided to go to have a look under our own steam. Having a easy morning we set off in a convoy of five mopeds to see a volcano. Many of the excursions were not running and guides suggesting there is no point in going as you can't see anything because of the weather. Well ...
