      Value for money

Clean rooms, hot coffee and very odd bathrooms. Staff here are the nicest so far on our journey. Budget, no pool, restaurant only open after 5. Very good value for money, has fountains and outdoor areas, good aircon, fairly good wifi, lots of restaurants in area, walking distance to water palace.
If you stay here you must check out kedais restaurant 600 m up the road and over the crossing into Jalan Tirtodipuran. It's unbelievable.

Nice room, really awesome bathroom and beautifull garden. There's a can with hot water for tea or coffee outside the room every morning. The location is good, close to the kraton, saras wati temple and the bird market.

Every second Saturday they have a show that runs from about dusk to dawn to present the entire story, a marathon effort typically attended by 100-200. The ballet seemed simplistic, relying more on elaborate costumes than technical movements. I took videos of both, which I will only be able to upload at home, but the photos are here ...

Something else that we have seen a lot of in recent weeks is the amount of hard manual labour that goes on here. The poor state of many of the smaller roads, caused by the amount of rain during the wet season, means that we always ...

After taking Trip Advisors recommendation we booked a very nice restaurant for dinner for 7pm, dinner came to a grand total of £23 including drinks and pudding! Result, I could get used to this. We then headed home to try and get some sleep before our early trip the next morning (if you can call 3.15 ...

... about ten minutes later, and we sat and read while it made the 17km journey to Prambanan temple complex.

Here we joined the "foreigners' queue" and were dressed in sarongs in order to enter the temple area. This seemed a touch unnecessary - with Jacqui already wearing trousers, and Dave's shorts showing beneath this shorter overgarment, we were a bit unsure about its purpose. But apparently it was an important part of showing our respects to the temple, so we ...
