... They had a beautiful shop, nursery and farm produce shop, similar to Chatsworth bit on a smaller scale. It is worth a visit. It is close to the lovely little village of Kenton. Next we drove down to the beach in Sidmouth-the beach was very pebbly. Next drove to Lyme Regis which is similar to St Ives. ... as we ran out of time last week. Parts of it were the 13th century gatehouse of Beaulieu Abbey, but it’s now mainly of Victorian vintage. It was well worth the return visit - a great house with lots to see and very interesting paintings, photos and momentos of the Montagus over the centuries. The Montagu family still live there (since 1538) so we saw only parts of the house - no bedrooms and only some of the reception rooms. ...

I was pretty bummed out that we drove right by Stonehenge and did not have the time to park and take a look. I have been there before, back in the days when one could walk among the stones and touch them. Now there are fences around the stones and nobody can get within 50 feet of them. I’m glad we visited them when we did.
