... to cruise along in the center lane but not fast enough to avoid passers who'd rocket by like jet engines on the left. Being a Merwin, I found the one free parking lot in town, and it was next to a free bathroom. Boo Ya!

The altstadt is walkable and surrounded by the city wall, so you can't really get lost. You can walk up well worn stairs and stroll around on the city wall. We played peeping toms and peered into all the gardens and out across the Tauber ...

It May Not Be Much, But They Like To Call It Home

... in it with 4 kitchens but no bathroom! Evidently people only washed about once a year, including their clothes and instead wore a lot of perfume. I think unfortunately some Europeans still cling to this tradition. Thankfully I am not here in the summer!

Autumn hits Germany

... and felt the need to tell meaningless jokes and teach drinking songs.

We had local german beer on the return bus trip, you wouldn't see that in the US.

After dinner we went to the lounge to participate in a trivia game. We lost. No surprises there. The big surprise was a woman who is 77 said she would pole dance and she DID! Hysterical. Who knew this crowd could get so rowdy.

2 Romantics, 1 Road

... the northernmost town on the Road. It was a cute beginning, though a reminder of why I am not enamored of German food (lots of sausages and very little veggies). But Wurzburg is a huge wine producing town, so color me very happy about that. (hic)

This morning we drove south to the most famous town on the Road, Rothenburg au der Tauber. Seriously, this town has to be seen to be believed. It looks like Fantasyland exploded in 12 different ...

Good Pretzel Town

... has fallen into ruin. We walked around town a while taking pictures and I bought a couple of pretzels. Went to the Visitor Center to buy a pin and walked back to the ship.
During the afternoon the ship cruised on to the next town. We went up to the sun deck where we could have a good view of the countryside. It was sunny and warm which made it very pleasant.

Danube-Main Canal

... between Budapest and Amsterdam.
We’re now traveling on the Main River. We’ve seen many swans and ducks on the river and the hills have many vineyards. After lunch we docked at Wurzburg , another picturesque town with many church spires and a fortress on the hill. The river is crossed by another old stone bridge with large statues of Bishop Princes and saints lining the sides of the bridge.

The best day, but my last day.

... the attendant and climbed a ladder and squeezed out onto the onion domed roof catwalk, I’m glad I had a light lunch. The railing surrounding it only went up to my armpits and offered the best view you could ask for. You could only walk around one way because it was too narrow to pass someone, but we liked the openness of our high perch on top of town and couldn’t believe they let people go out there. Very cool!

We did a bit more shopping and made ...

... place, but in the end could only spend about 100 days living there! My high school German teacher had a huge poster of the castle in his room, and so it was neat for me to finally see it in person after seeing nearly everyday for 3 years. We spent Easter with Ines' parents, Karola und Bernhard. They hid easter candy all over the living room for us :) I felt like a little girl again searching and getting excited with each chocolate treasure found. We also took a little ...
