... and a CO2 detector I was able to get inside the tank and shovel the grape skins out the door. CO2 levels can still be high as the fermentation process produces lots of it so levels are checked before entering to ensure it is safe. The detector will alarm if levels get above what is safe. It turns out digging out a tank is just as much fun as I was promised, although I think it would lose it's appeal after doing it all day, very hard work! It's always a ...

... she is saying but I can tell she is not impressed by my efforts to get her up and running. Eventually I press the right buttons and I do at least succeed in getting her to show total disdain for my efforts in English. ... best evenings of the trip! :-) Before the ferry we had picnic in the park and we were so unprepared to this new way of eating that i had to procure some cups in Subway and we had to ask more prepared backpackers for a knife. The South Island had some utterly stunning scenery which couldn't compare with the North Island. the grass was greener, the lakes were more blue, the sheep were less sheepish, the cows were more milka-like. ...
