    I just totted up the total distance we pedaled between Rome and Canterbury - it comes to 1,892Km (or 1,182 miles).

    The ride from Canterbury to where Ian's car was parked near Gatwick was a further 137Km, split by the overnight stop at Tunbridge Wells.

    ... twelve hours behind schedule. The helicopter came just after midnight and took the person away. They must have winched them up as there are no large flat areas.
