Excellent hotel in Volvograd, lovely people and good price Visited the very poignant memorial site of Mother Russia before we left Otherwise another long day in the saddle, very hot, some dreadful roads, I swear we actually took off at one point after hitting a pot hole Arrived at our hostel, the worse, ...

... I think I get a bottom bunk tonight which will be good because this is an 18 hour ride. Too late to cancel the Rostov hotel but they did let me turn up at 7am so I got to shower and have a bit more sleep and recover from the first train before embarking on the second. Still no pics, I only have some of the gorge at the border and one or two of Vladikavkaz station, and it's raining cats and dogs here in Rostov so there may not be any from here either. Better check the forecast for ...

... sun in our back window since our first day in Romania...it is now thoroughly skunked and wouldn't be drunk by any of us. But the guard looks at it, looks pretty happy and tells us to go on our way. Now that's my kind of bribe to pay ;)

By the time all 3 cars are through the border, its almost 11pm, so once again we just pulled off to the side of the road and ...
